I would like to get a better light for my fluval sea 13.5 gallon tank, and was looking at Nicrew hyperreef aquarium LED reef light from amazon that is 50 watts. Not sure if 50 watts is too high for it, please let me know if I can use it.

I would reccomend looking into a AI prime 16HD. Personally I stay away from the cheap amazon lights, most of them don’t have the restrictions and just aren’t that good of quality

I have the nicrew 50w on a 15 gallon and the 30w on my evo 13.5 with very good results in coral growth. I find them to be pretty stable budget lights personally. My corals have responded beautifully to both lights. You're not going to get anything super special, but the 30w did at least have a timer built in with a simple fade in and fade out function.

The 30w at 24 inches away provides a PAR of 58 according to their information panel, so I hung mine about 6 inches from the lid and maxed out at 18 inches for distance to boost those numbers a little. the 50w is impressively bright and while I didn't want something quite that strong on this tank, the reviews and other people use the 50w on the evos.

Probably depends on what you want to put in it coral wise, and your budget. Other lights will provide more, but these, in my opinion, are a significant step up to the stock light and will suit me personally, probably indefinitely. I currently house zoas, duncans, hammers, acans, blastos, gonioporas and rock flower anemones under these lights.
