I have two viparspecta 165 over a 60"x24"x24" tank, I'm looking at making it a mixed reef LPS and simple green slimmers. My question is, would it be worth it to upgrade to a Reefbreeder or orphec light or simply add another viparspecta for coverage? I've only ever had Kessil lights and want to try something new and get away from the mass shimmer.
Thanks
Tom

I like the viparspectras. Have you taken par readings with the 2 though? If you add 3 for better coverage you may need to dial them back a bit.

If aesthetics are important and you have the $$, I'd go with the reefbreeders. I love mine.

If you like your current light get 1 or 2 more.
A meridian with 2 edge would be a nice option.
I run 2 RB photon 50's on my 60×30×21.
I run 2 edge 15K's on my 400 watt halide system.
A RB 24 on my nem system.

The meridians are definitely worth it. But you're talking $1,350.00, and another viparspectra is $140.00. it looks to me that your lights really don't have a lot of royal blue LEDs, so maybe another fixture for 140 bucks and then spend some money on some lumen bars. You just going to have to figure out some way to mount them.

Thank you for the responses, I made a rookie mistake while trying to adjust my light rack and dropped a light in the tank. Yes, it was plugged in and yes, it was on. So I purchased a Reefbreeders Maridian. I love it so easy so much coverage, I've ran Kessils on every tank I've ever set up and I would never go back.
