Ok so Iv bought a tank pictures should be uploaded I just need help with lighting recommendations, do I use the glass covers? Do I remove them to increase the area I can fit lighting in?

dimensions of the glass openings with glass covers removed are below

sides both 315mm (W) X 365mm (L)
Central opening is 280 (W) x 310 mm (L)

Overall dimensions of the tank are 1300mm (L) x 550mm(W) and 650mm (H)

I’ll be going mixed reef so better lighting towards the top fading off

I was thinking maybe lighting from the AI prime range but open to all suggestions at this stage.

have many people set theirs up with similar covers? If so how?

I guess the other option is to remove the glass covers/braces all together and maybe run it rimless? 15mm glass so not too sure how safe that option is

I wasn’t too sure where to post this so I apologise if it’s in the wrong section

cheers in advance

Is it the canopy that has glass covers or the tank?

You can use them or not use them, as long as they are not part of bracing for your tank. Are they removable? They will get dirty with saltwater and need to be cleaned.
If you have fish that might jump then you need some sort of cover to keep them in.

You get better out gas exchange without them and allot less salt creep, etc. On the other side you get allot more water evaporation without them.

Looking back to your reefing roots: Did you start with Instant Ocean salt?
