Looking for a crab to put in 55 gal with a dwarf fuzzy lion. The only options i've been able to find are a gorilla crab and the white spotted hermit, which I cant really figure out if its able to live in a 55 due to the conflicting opinions on tank size.
Is it possible for the lion to be peaceful with smaller crabs like emeralds? Will these larger crabs be a danger to the lionfish?

Depends on how many caves and crevices your crabs have to hide in where the lionfish can't follow. I have a Hawaiian strawberry and male emerald crab (both about 2.5" in diameter), and they pretty much leave everything alone (and the fish ignore them as well).

Will larger inverts hurt the lionfish?
The two I mentioned generally won't, but I'm not sure if the reverse is true. Hermit crabs will also probably be fine. I can't say whether any other crabs would be "fish killers". Strawberry and emeralds are more interested in algae and redecorating my tank...

Would reef lobster be compatible?

Seems to indicate it would be, but needs a cave and will spend most of the day in it. Except for snails and small hermit crabs, most of your regular crabs, shrimp, etc. will prefer to spend the day in a cave - preferring to come out at night.

Lions normally do not bother hard bodied inverts, I've kept hermits and emeralds for many years with dozens of lions, never has one ever even paid attention to one. In a small tank like a 55g, a reef lobster may be a gamble, an injury can be deadly and battle of territory could be probable
