Oh definitely, maybe "poor man's" is a better term since it looks similar, but has a much lower price tag than the other two.
I haven’t had one in my personal reef but I have had some come in in an LFS, they are relatively easy compared to some of the deep water basslets that come in. If you have the chance I would take it, they’re a gorgeous basslet in person and really are worth it. As Lion King said, they’re an outgoing species but generally still hide close to the rocks, similar to the Firefish (Nemateleotris species). It’s unlikely they’ll munch on smaller fish as these guys are already quite small and their mouths really aren’t that big.
Unfortunately I didn't grab it. The price went up by $100 since it is the rarer yellow variant, and I didn't feel like the tank was ready for more fish at the time, let alone one of that rarity and price. Goodluck with yours! I think I still might get one when the corals have grown out a bit
Looks to be the Yellow Phenotype to me. The ‘normal’ phenotype has a completely red body.
