Does the container on the right look like it crashed? I let it go about 12 days to get a darker green, but it kind of looks brownish, it doesn't smell at all. The one of the left was my last culture .

Well im harvesting it today , cleaning the container and starting a new one, but im wondering if I should just use the original thats been in my fridge that looks lighter green or this darker almost yellow one.....Looks like it is nutrient limited. Consider adding more fertilizer
If it has started going downhill, I would not use it to start a new culture, but feed it to system. Use your refrigerated culture to start new culture. Consider adding more fertilizer next time.Well im harvesting it today , cleaning the container and starting a new one, but im wondering if I should just use the original thats been in my fridge that looks lighter green or this darker almost yellow one.....
and add 5/6 ml of F2. My culture is deep, dark emerald green and lasts for months.Doesn’t look bad but both cultures look a bit light. As Subsea said make sure you are adding enough F2. I make mine in a similar sized container with spigot made for drinksand add 5/6 ml of F2. My culture is deep, dark emerald green and lasts for months.
Got mine from an R2R member Eldredge few years back. Been growing my own ever since.Well too late lol, I think my next culture ill order a nice brand new one and start over again, do you guys just use like algae barn phyto as a starter culture? And yes the container is a 2 gallon jug that i give 8 ml of f2 every Sunday when I harvest...... wondering if im doing something wrong , I leave half the culture in and add a new gallon of rodi mixed saltwater to it
IMO experience it doesn’t need a ton of light. As long as it got some ambient light for 5 days it should be fine. I use a 40 watt incandescent bulb on a timer for 10 hrs/day.Crap I should have added this, my led lights broke and it was in darkness for like 5 days , is it possible the fertilizer didnt have any light to do anything and maybe this week it Will improve, or did I kill everything lol again it doesn't smell at all , at the bottom when I just cleaned it I saw algae clumps at the bottom , not alot but enough to cover maybe 10% of the plastic bottom
What strain is that? Nanno or Tetra?Does the container on the right look like it crashed? I let it go about 12 days to get a darker green, but it kind of looks brownish, it doesn't smell at all. The one of the left was my last culture .

That's definitely too light for 12 days. Mine looks darker than that when I harvest and restart my cultures.Tetra
Well it spent 5 days in complete darkness before I got new lights and I wasn't "allowed" to bring it by any windows lol so we will see if it gets nice and dark this time or if the whole thing crashed. That's definitely too light for 12 days. I missed this aspect. I would throw more fertilizer in it and give it some time then.Well it spent 5 days in complete darkness before I got new lights and I wasn't "allowed" to bring it by any windows lol so we will see if it gets nice and dark this time or if the whole thing crashed.
Yeah I just harvested today and added a new gallon of fresh saltwater and 8ml of f2 fertilizer. So we shall seeI missed this aspect. I would throw more fertilizer in it and give it some time then.
