Lobo Placement

I ordered a 2" lobo. It's super nice - at least in the photos. It arrived today and I was really caught off guard by how tall it's structure is. It is 2" x 1" but is 3.5" tall. It looks really weird in my nano tank. Can I lay it on it's side at an angle? I have 1.5" of sand, can I bury it down?

Also, after it's coral dip, it was throwing mucus everywhere. Will that affect my fish?

I placed it and left for work with the lights off. Curious to know how it's doing now.
