Local wildlife - Snapping turtle

Our little shih-tzu was barking abnormally loudly this morning, went out to find this 18" snapper about 3 feet from my back patio. Eventually wandered on down the hill... there's a creek there that would work out fine for him.

Sorry about the poor photos. Didn't want to upset him too much.
