Hi all i have a few Sunny D zoas that have long stalks on them, some people say its light issues but I do not want to up light levels as others are ok in my tank!

Can i cut long stalk and re glue on a frag or will they die off?

Thanks

I would let them be. You risk them dying by cutting them, or worse. If they're open and happy but stretching a little bit I wouldn't mess with them ;)

You’re not going to die by fragging your zoa. I do it all of the time, no issues. Wear gloves, do it properly. Just like using a chainsaw or weed wacker, know what you’re doing and you’ll be fine.

As far as extension, I’ve noticed mine getting taller due to higher flow. Not sure if this is the exact reason, but I have the same zoa’s in different places with different flow.

no one said the OP would die, it was stated you risk killing a zoa but cutting them in half....

So you cut below the head and not at the base? How far above the foot was it?
My stalks are different sizes i just cut 5mm or a bit more below zoa head.

Dab dry head of zoa on a bit of tissue then dab of glue and stuck on!

Cut 3 more today so will now give a few weeks to see outcome.

I want to see pics of these long stalk zoas and then maybe you could edit the photo with a paint program to show us where you are cutting the stalks. I am having a hard time believing that this won't kill a zoa if done where I am imagining you doing this.
