Look What I Caught!!!

I was looking at my tank early this morning because i got spooked reading articles about giant fire worms and bristle worms. I just bought a pair of Helfrichis and last time i had a pair one disappeared. I always thought i had some kind of predator in the rocks. I was looking in a small cave and there it was. A big nasty fire worm or bristle worm, watever it is. I took some rocks out real quick, grabbed my forceps, put some gloves on and dove in. I know smaller bristle worms are beneficial but when they get this big i fear for my smaller fish. Ughh these things give me the creeps.

those are great for a reef tank. They are awesome scavengers. I have many of them in my tank. They dont bothermy fish

there was a LFS here that had one that was over 2ft long!! and it never bothered a single fish. now if something died or was on the way out that was a differrnt story. i saw one of the guys that work there crush a gorilla crab they had been trying to get out for the past year, crushed him with a rock lol and that worm was on it the minute his body hit the bottom.

Looks like a harmless bristleworm. Toss it in your sump if your that worried, but it poses no risk at all in your display.

It went pipe surfing. LoL. I dont know. Its something about these things that give me the creeps. Smaller ones i can put up with. Sometimes i put my hand in the tank at night and would hate grab one of these by mistake. Plus it was occupying a nice burrow that my Helfrichi can use.
