I like a challenge! It sounds a lot like a Stethojulis balteata;

Above are more mature females, showing the belly pattern and yellow markings, below is a younger juvenile to show the yellow in the anal/dorsal fins.

If it wasn’t the above, was it a slimline body shape like above or more robust? That will give a clue to either Parrot/Hog or Wrasse
Yes, that first picture looks almost exact. Thanks! It's such a shame the guy basically killed it by putting it in a bag with a boxfish. I would given that a good home.

No need for permit if you are a Hawaii resident. But I’m pretty sure you need a permit if you are an outsider, which I believe are not being handed out at the moment 😔
Visitors to the island can catch fish I think without a permit.

Oh ok I probably won’t risk it then
I'm just saying, if you brought it on a plane with you no one would know. Wink, wink.
But yeah, no online retailer will ship to Hawaii (you need a permit to import anything and then it has to be allowed which is a long list of what isn't and if it's not on that list it's ok. I went through the whole process when I moved here). If I really wanted something I would have it shipped to my family in the mainland and then depending on the value either have them resend it to me or even I fly home and bring it back with me. Did that with some Lennardis and my Polyzona.

I never heard of Zippy's before I moved here. And I visited each island several times prior to moving here. Don't feel bad. But yeah, it's huge here. They're everywhere.

Just found this on the Hawaiian DLNR site. I guess if they list how to catch and kill them, I can have for my aquarium… maybe I get myself a snowflake eel heheh

I also read that morey eels aren’t protected (conger eels are) and I got mixed up between the two. I guess I can have an eel xd. If you can’t tell, I love eels!

Can’t beat the Korean Fried Chicken
Korean Fried Chicken breakfast is the best!! Assuming I can get my butt up early enough to make breakfast hours. LOL. Cheehoo!!
Super underrated, but their Portuguese Sausage Omlette sandwiches are a lifesaver in the mornings lol

Yeah, he's gonna need a big tank just to avoid him getting all stressed out and a good skimmer etc to maintain the water quality.
I would let him go back into the ocean. That's just me.

Can't do that now once it is in the home aquaria...

Can buy them now at Biota. They go out of stock fast but this you already know...
I am aware and have seen the price :(
I can’t justify spending that much on a fish and they don’t accept coral trades as payment lol
