Hello,

I have a pretty heavily stocked 100 gallon tank (dt is 100 gallons from manufacturer, plus 34 gallon sump), and I'm looking for a new skimmer. I have a trigger 34 sump with a roller mat and essence skimmer in the first chamber and chaeto in the second. I'm thinking about upgrading my skimmer, removing the refugium, and putting my skimmer in the second chamber.

My two questions are:
1) is putting the skimmer in the second chamber (post roller mat) ok?
2) anyone have a good recommendation for a skimmer brand/model?

Thank you!

I really dig reef octopus regal, or elite series skimmers. I have the elite 150 internal skimmer and I really like it. The pump speed is variable, it's super quiet and it has a float switch that will shut it off if you get close to overflowing the cup which is nice.

And yes, putting it post-roller mat is how it would be done.

I would suggest the Tunze 9410 DC. Plug and play with the best customer service in the business.
