It has been years since I was into photography so I'm not up on the modern cameras.

I'm mostly looking to be able to take photos of the aquarium and people etc.

I'd like to get something New and ready to go as a package, or at least all the
needed pieces for under $1000 realizing that I can buy more lenses and filters later.

Thank you

I would purchase either a Nikon or Cannon. Go to a store and check both of them out and see which one feels more comfortable in your hand. Never knew how much of a difference the 2 have in feel. Besides that I would buy based on features that matter most to you. You can not go wrong with either camera imo.

Get a decent DSLR. Save your money for better lenses than on the camera.
