If I have a calcium reactor with a ph probe. I can monitor my cal, alk, mag with the (Trident). Dose the reactor fluid to keep stable cal and alk.

Do I need a ph probe in the actual tank water?

Don’t rely on the ph probe in the reactor to tell you anything other than when to stop/start dosing alk.

You asked a question what could cause a huge ph swing in your tank that would not effect other peramiters that you are monitoring. And the answer is high level of co2 in your house. High co2 will not be picked up by any other of your sensors. Within only couple hours if you had people over your co2 could rise causing ph to go crazy low and will not immediately Affect any other parameters. Obviously overtime you will see your alkalinity consumption be less with lower pH
