I’m trying some drain plumbing using spaflex on my tank reboot, and I’m seeing the dry joints somewhat “loose” as compared to a normal dry joint with hard pipe. Is this normal? I’ve done a lot of reading about spaflex, but haven’t seen anyone comment that the joints aren’t as “tight” as normal hard pipe joints.
In addition to that - For insurance, could I glue the joint and then put a bead of epoxy putty around the joint to hopefully add a little more leak protection? Any insight appreciated!

The external surface of Flex PVC is a bit 'tacky' which makes it harder to get the pipe fully into the fitting. Once you add the solvent, it should snug in just fine. I've not had any of my joints leak or salt creep so would judge putty to be unnecessary. One point of caution is to not use the shallow shoulder DWV fittings; you should be using the full depth fittings.
