Looks like slime and bacterial build up on fish and can be bacterial or brooklynella but verification once fish is dead is near impossible.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

It had "abrasions" on both sides? That is really rare, kind of like if you stubbed both of your toes at the same time - it can happen, but unlikely (grin).

What antibiotic were you treating the fish with and for how long?

Marine melafix. I have a piece of coral in my tank and has some rugged points.. I used it cause I wanted to use it for a coral shelf.. thinking of removing it..

Melafix is only an herbal tonic, not a true antibiotic. At most, it is bacteriostatic. I know what the bottle says, but really, if it is an active bacterial infection, you need to use a true antibiotic.

Rough aquarium decorations really do not cause this sort of issue - remember, these fish are accustomed to living on coral reefs that are FULL of sharp rocks.
