I've been in the saltwater hobby for over 20 years. After a one year break (a power failure wiped me out) I find I just cant get away from these cool animals. So, I'm starting from scratch. I always had good luck with a plenum and I'm using one again. This time with a deeper sand bed, about 3-4 inches. It's only 55 gallon with T5s and actinic bulbs and a hang on back protein skimmer. This set up has been good to me and I was able to keep a Mandarin Gobi for over 2 years before the disaster. I'm working on a budget so slow and steady it will go. I started to cycle the tank before Thanksgiving and now it has about 15 lbs of live rock, 30 lbs base rock and the little critters are starting to get comfy. I've read many of the threads on this site and am impressed with the great input and fantastic pictures from your members. Hope to have a beauty like so many I have seen here. Some day...
