Lol an asteroid and thank you very informative.No coral is immortal and all have their strengths and weaknesses. All zoanthids are sensitive to nutrient swings. Look at how many complaints we get about zoas not growing in tanks with perfect parameters.
Blue digipora can tolerate tank conditions that will cause most zoas to wither and die. Xenia can't handle a nutrient drop and will receed if pH gets to low or nitrate dives for too long after a big water change.
On my short list of corals that that can tolerate common tank extremes and most likely to survive an asteroid strike:
Discoma and green rhodactis.
Green implosion palys.
Rock flower anemones.
Blue and Green digipora and green pocillopora.
