I know all about parameters being out of whack that can contribute to algae, and such as GHA. Well, I don't have a clue what has happened to my tank as it has been infested with GHA - my parameters are 8ppm Nitrates and 0.05 Phopshates - consistent for months.

This is my first encounter of this type of algae - tank almost 3 years old.

If I pull out the rock work and use a toothbrush to scrub off the algae - is this effective or would the algae just grow back at the same spot.

A fellow reefer mentioned to me to use Reef Flux or go to the pharmacy to get some at a cheaper price.

Welcome any thoughts.
Thanks

Pictures will help, but a 3 month old tank is usually now beginning what we call the "ugly phase". Nitrate and phosphate is not everything, dissolved organics and low flow can also contribute significantly to algae. What is the clean up crew like? Start increasing the number of algae grazers as the algae grows

If you are pulling rocks out, put 6% peroxide on them and let then sit a few minutes. Scrub, rinse and apply more peroxide. Rinse and put back into tank. Use small vessel or pipette to gently wet corals every once in a while. Don't get the peroxide on the corals. I apply the peroxide with a pipette, as close to the point of attachment as possible.
