Hello everyone,
I have a relatively new reef (first time) which is 3 months old.
I am constantly battling with pH (low readings), now i added the pH scrubber ( filled with aquaforest media) and connected it to my skimmer ( Jump SK 400).
I still can't get over 7.9. The only time i got over it was when i left the windows open and heating off for the whole weekend.
Nobody is home across the day, only my dog.
Could it be something with the placement of the neptune probe?
Its kinda wobly positioned, i dont have a probe holder, its next to my rollermat.

Thank you and i appreciate your help

Personally I wouldn't chase pH on a new tank. Heck I won't chase it on a mature tank. I know people fret over pH but I believe the biggest cause of failure for people new to the hobby is to get caught up chasing numbers that aren't all that important to begin with. It leads to tail chasing and disappointment IMO.
I'm a simpleton and have three tanks running and I don't have a clue what the pH is on any of them.

Have you tried putting the probe back into calibration fluid to double check its pH measuring accuracy?

@exnisstech has a valid perspective. I monkey with pH a lot and I think higher stable pH is generally better than low pH, though I cannot honestly say I’ve had a problem caused, or a problem solved, that I can directly attribute to pH.

If you calibrate and confirm your pH is lower than you want it, there may be a fairly easy way to raise it that I described in this recent thread….

Is there something you've noticed within your tank that look soff, and that's why you're chasing PH? Or is the Neptune showing you that it's low?

Either or, if the tank is happy, I'd stop chasing PH and let it be.

I don't think folks see issues of low pH in most circumstances. What they likely get is slower growth of hard corals. :)
