Not really a DIY but more of a tip or trick. When I changed flooring in my house I was having some higher than ideal PH readings, so I just used some plain rodi water and carbonated it with a soda stream machine to add the CO2 to drag that down. Worked like a champ and thought maybe it may help somebody out.

How does replacing a floor increase pH? and what pH are you saying was to high?

The only way pH can get too high is if you are dosing additives that increase it.

A saltwater aquarium will never have a pH that is too high naturally.

Most are trying to increase PH, so more info, how was it tested, etc, is needed here.

Lots of people running skimmers with outside air from the house to get these numbers up up up.

This brings me back to my point that pH cannot get too high on its own and the increase would be due to concrete outgassing or concrete dust in an enclosed space with the aquarium. Ventilating the room by opening windows would be a better option to lower pH if it truly was too high, but the OP never said what the actual pH was.
