The first are usually harmless but can irritate or smother coral in large numbers. The second will eat your coral.
Maybe I should be talking to you about my nitrate/phosphate levels. Maybe you're on to something...My nitrates are 80 and my phosphates are 0.5 and my euphyllia love it. A nitrate number alone doesn't tell you much, and LPS usually need higher nutrients.
I like Nyos (easy to read) or Hanna. And I'd do both water changes and dosing to get your magnesium up.Do you have any phosphate test kit that you recommend?
