Parameters seem fine. I would lean towards lighting, flow or possibly a pest

And they rarley eat algae and nip corals

Where do you get your info from? Tangs eat Alage in the wild....

@op - Looks like brown jelly disease, frag off the healthy heads and dip them per this thread

Regarding your other issues, pls give tank background?

Your parameters seem fine. I my best guess is too much light or some sort of pest/disease based off where it is unhealthy in the pic grouped together.

What are you talking about? Tangs don’t nip corals, and they eat tons of algae. They’re also generally only aggressive to other tangs, and usually only when in too small a tank. Diatoms can grow anywhere, but this person was talking about dinoflagellates. Their phosphates (and nitrates) are a little high, but they’re not crazy high.

OP - If you can’t find any obvious answers (ie flow, phosphates, nitrates, etc. - I don’t think it’s either of those things), I would try raising the mag. A lot of LPS can look kind of sad at the lower end of the acceptable mag range. Try taking it up to 1450 or 1500 (slowly, don’t raise it by more than 75-100ppm per day). My hammer was looking kind of sad like yours, and my mag was 1290. So last week I raised it by 100ppm to 1390 and the next day it looked better. Raised it some more over the next few days to 1500 and since it’s never looked happier. Anyway, might be something to try.

Thanks for all the replies. I have a lot of tangs (don’t think it’s them). The tank is 230 gallons. I run an 8 bulb t5 SunPower fixture. It is about 12” off the water. I dipped the coral rx but didn’t see any pests. I have lost other torches. I am at a loss.

It's hard to see, but do I see algae everywhere? Have a pic in white light?

If you have alot of algae, it can make the parameters look fine, while the algae kills your coral.

I'm 99% sure its brown jelly diseas which is contagious and will spread to any other Torch / Hammers you have.

Need to cut off the healthy heads and dip them in an antibiotic.

Brown Jelly Disease: Current Treatment Strategies!

Current Treatment Strategies for Brown Jelly Disease I’ve been asked to summarize the current findings concerning Brown Jelly Disease for those that need a quick reference if they encounter it in their own tank. For a link to current tests investigating possible treatments, see here. First, if...

My torches were dying because of flatworms. Your levels look just fine but maybe look more closely at the coral to see any flatworms. I had to dip my dragon soul 3 times because of flatworms. Its doing just fine now though. 1E05F8D1-7D92-438E-A5B1-ED24CC6ADCF1.jpeg Screen Shot 2021-05-05 at 9.47.46 AM.png
