LPS in high nitrate, high alk

apparently these days people such as sbb and wwc seem to keep their sps and zoas in a high alk (like 9ppm) and nitrates at around 20ppm+. does LPS seem to like this kind of water or do they prefer the old school 3-5ppm nitrate with alk at 7
