I have 3 M2 Vectra pumps (serial numbers are 2019-2021) they are connected to an Apex/Fusion only to control on/off. they were working for 4 years until I turned them off to redo my tank. Now when I try to turn them on via Fusion app, I hear the click sound to the ON position, but 2 of them are dead. When I remove Apex from the picture and plug in directly to a wall, they turn on for a brief second, control dial turns to green and then goes dead.

Ecotech says I need a firmware update via Mobius. (I had never used Mobius before and pumps worked flawlessly). I installed the app and it does NOT recognize the M2 pumps, but does my MP40 pumps. They confirmed with the serial numbers I gave them, that they are mobius compatible and should be recognized.

I want to do a hard factory reset but I don't have enough time for the unit to stay on to perform it.

It appears they are locked out or something.

These are my main circulation pumps, so I got to get them working.

Any ideas or suggestions?

If no lights, can you try the power supply from the other working M2?

Success!!!! I was able to get the other 2 pumps that appear dead working and flowing water into the tank by connecting the power supply to the first pump that was working.

I use the power supply from pump 2 (that the one isn't working) to pump 1, and it turns on, but pump 2 and 3 are still dead. They briefly turn on, go all green, then dead.

Does that tell you the other 2 have a bad power supply ?

the mere fact I was able to get all 3 units working and flowing water tells me control unit is good.

If not, then what is it?

Thank you!!!!!

A little confusing so just want to clarify

Pump1: working
Pump2 & Pump3: bad

You’ve used Pump1’s power supply on Pump2&3 and both are now working?

If so, yes — both pump2/3’s power supplies are dead so just find a replacement power supply. It’s ridiculously priced from Ecotech at $132 !$$&

You ca n find on eBay for way less. You can use Meanwell PS as well - just sure it matches the DC output for a M2. I believe it’s 36V DC? Please verify below?

yes, correct.

Pump1=working
Pump 2&3=not working.

I used Power supply from Pump1 on pump 2 and 3 and they turned right on, full green light, water flow.

That is really weird that power supply from pump 2 &3 are bad. I've only had them for 4-5 years.

What is Meanwell? I will try and search in amazon for it.

I found this:

Is this the meanwell site you meant?

and yes the back of the ecotech power supply says: 36V, 2.77A

would this be sufficient even though it is 2.5A?

As long as it outputs 36V — you’re good BUT check the connectors though?

The attached file is from Ecotech's site. It appears to be the same connection as the Meanwell one, or am I missing something? Thank you for all your help. :)

You also might want to check the ceramic bearings on the impeller shaft. I've had issues with calcium buildup inside the bearings, causes the pump to draw too much current and overload the power supply. Take the pump apart completely and soak in a STRONG citric acid solution and make sure the bearings spin freely. If nothing else the pump will run much better.

Did you end up finding a power supply that worked with the M2 other than OEM? Came home to a stalled pump and I suspect it's the PSU but don't want to drop $100+ to test it out. Is there a cheaper option that works?
