Just picked up some gorgs from Fridmani. He has an amazing variety! I don't think I've seen that much red macro algae in my life might have to start a small tank just for it. Thank you!

Is the Red Algae used to feed fish or is it like Cheato?

Tangs will definitely eat this stuff up. I don't use it for that. I use it for my refugium in lieu of chaeto. I'm not a big fan of chaeto...too stringy.

is the caulerpa prolifera the problematic type? I know there is one that can get evasive in a bad way.

Is your shipping 1 day 2 day etc?

It will grow pretty fast if kept unchecked. I wouldn’t say evasive. You just have to trim it back. It doesn’t go asexual like the caulerpa mexicana.

I can ship it any way you want but the most ecomonic way is USPS priority mail (2-3 days)

Thanks I was afraid that it would take off and go asexual and start growing inside the tank, is it better in a huge or an algae reactor?

Mine has not gone asexual. It all depends on what your goal is. I just put mine in a fuge since I like the look of it.

Well I am thinking about either putting it in a Tunze Algae reactor or use my Kessil 160 tuna white for a fuge in the sump, I have tried Cheato and all it does is gets everywhere, clogs my pumps.
I am trying to reduce my nutrient level, what I am doing now is not working.

I would do a sump. I've never used a reactor for this algae or seen anyone use it their reactor. A lot of this algae can decorative and people devote whole tanks to it. I didn't like chaeto for the reason stated. It gets everywhere and is stringy and clog up your pump. Algae will definitely help with reducing your nutrient level, but its always nice to have some nutrients. Why are you concern with your nutrient levels?

I have a IM Lagoon 25 with a below tank sump, the skimmer is not really cutting it and I have algae and a aptisa outbreak, I want to use the a fuge to reduce the nutrient level without stripping it. My P04 is 0.46, GFO is such a PITA, I tried Rowa Phos.
Do you throw away the caulerpa prolifera, and defiantly not flush correct?

Ah, small tanks are notoriously difficult to manage. Aiptasia is difficult to control because a single part can turn into a new one. I usually take the rock out of the tank, pluck it with tweezers or screw driver, toothbrush it, and rinse in a separate container of water. It's more work, but it'll be worth it in the long run.

As far as the algae is concerned, it could be a number of things...too much bio load, too much feeding, adding too many additives, too much light, etc. The algae will help, but you need to bring the tank back to a manageable level first.

I usually tell people to do frequent water changes, which means you don't need to add anymore additives, cut back your lighting, add carbon, or I like polyfilter, and take out rocks that be too inundated. Once things stabilize then you can increase your lighting if you need too, but you need make sure you stabilize the tank.

When I prune, i just throw it away. Not sure why anyone would flush it.

I will do a full test on my tank to compare the parameters.
I have this red stuff growing on the sides of the tank, but not on the rocks or sand, I have some long green algae but not too much.
I fed to much pellets and now I using flake, less chance of settling on the sand and rotting.
