Ive been running this for weeks now. Kessil h80 tuna flora on my 15g tank and moved all of my macroalgae into it. Codium, red ogo, dragons breath, 1 chaeto strand 🤣. Ive been running the kessil h80 for 16 hours daily on the grow setting. Slowly overtime all of the macroalgae has bleached more and more. It didnt make sense why? I put a piece of dragons breath in my display 2 weeks ago to test and see if it colors up. It did. I run an AI blade coral grow at 30% CW so in my mind how is it possible? All of the macros even stuck in shade in my display are colored heavily. So i figure the real issue is nutrients in the 15g.

Im dialing back the light setting to between grow and blue because its more white spectrum to the eye. I also just plumbed the tanks together. Before in the past i had the kessil on top of my diy refugium ac110 and they colored up heavily but i had alot of neausance algae growth

Ive went through it with macroalgae. It annoys me and clogs everything but i want it to grow. These are some stages.

- best growth but not effective microfauna diversity. Amphipods dominate all other microfauna

Ooo! Fun experiment! I used to have chaeto but they all died off over time because i got lazy to clean the hair algae off it. But, i never got a new one since it was rather annoying when it clogs up my wavemakers. Right now i have some taxifolia.

But, as far as what i know, they need pretty high nutrients, like >15 ppm nitrate. They are a type of algae after all.

Im gonna see what happens. to be honest. I meant to make this post last week. The light change already has been in effect and brightened up a few of the reds that were fading but barely compared to my display. Dragons breath stayed the same so thats why i made this post. nitrates in my DT are consumed rapidly so im at a loss now. 0 ppm nitrates since last month with 2 different api test kit reagents. I am convinced its just a light issue but we will see. The macro in the 15g didnt respond as strongly as the one in my display so now we wait and watch what happens with shared water.

The kessil is only 15 watts, I'm just starting with macro algae myself, so I don't know if thats sufficient or not. But I have a jebao 60 watt on my 10 gallon macro tank and the algae is deep red and grows fast.

I didnt know this. Makes sense why it worked so well before and barely works on a whole tank. Although since the spectrum change has been in full effect I see the macroalgaes gaining more color. Specifically one that i dont know what it is. Some type of red macro that has small "leaves" the small leaves all were turning white or just gone before and now coming back strong surprisingly. Im not sure about new growth but its coloring up
