Mag 9.5 Help Plz.

So i have this Mag 9.5 impeller w/shaft that i got from someone because the pump they sent me had a broken shaft. The impeller they sent me does not have the washer on it. I need to remove the rubber caps or at least one to slide the shaft on. These rubber ends do not want to come off and with the shaft being ceramic I DO NOT want to break it. Any ideas on how to get these things off? Soak it in vinegar? Also what end does the washer go on? Thanks

I'd try a heat gun and would be careful to only soften them up instead of melting them.
