Hello everyone
I just recently bought a red sea magnesium test kit and got a reading of around 1600. I have never added magnesium or dosed it to my tank. Is this to much, do I need to bring it down and if so how. More importantly why is it so high?
Thanks

if you see coral bleaching I would do wc's...otherwise leave it, the levels should start dropping naturally....double check your test kit also.....

Depending on the salt mix used and how it is packaged, it might be possible that stratification caused a larger than normal amount of magnesium to be mixed into the water. Shake/stir/agitate your salt mix before adding to water could help solve.
