I am curious if anyone has ever built on to a pre-made stand from a manufacturer like waterbox or redsea. I am interested in getting a waterbox for my next tank, but my wife and I are not fans of the modern aesthetic of the stands. We would like the tank to closer match our kitchen cabinets and have more of a traditional feel. I was thinking of replacing the cabinet doors and building a wood "wrap" around the cabinet with molding etc. as opposed to buying a separate custom cabinet and canopy. We would like the setup to look similar to the pic of the following tank. Any ideas?

Should be very easy to do. Especially, if you have some decent power tools on hand. You can build these shaker style cabinet doors and trim with a decent portable table saw and dado saw blade set. There are tons of trim carpentry videos on YT (Stumpy Nubs is a decent YT channel).

How handy are you with woodworking tools? Re-skinning a WB Aquarium should be no problem, however I used to build Fine Furniture. The Doors should be no problem. you can order Shaker Style doors ready to go on-line and they aren't terribly expensive or you could probably order them from your Kitchen Cabinet MFR to match exactly. Building the wood frame and attaching it to the Aluminum Frame is more Custom, but a cabinet installer could do that.

And a final note, if you're going with a large Waterbox, be prepared to wait, and wait. I have one on order since Nov. 7th and still no light at the end of the Tunnel.

I'd talk to @Joe Glass Cages . Buy their tank and custom stand. I've never purchased a stand from them, but imagine if they can custom cut a tank, they could easily custom a stand.

I actually recently checked them out online. Looks like they do awesome work and I really like the customization available for a fair price. I may end up going this route.

I have a decent woodworking setup and built the stand for my current tank. Just don’t have experience wrapping around an existing stand but don’t feel like it would be incredibly difficult.
