Managing humidity

Lets face it. Our ATO's are only half the story. The 1+ gallons of daily evaporation from our tanks is going somewhere and I always have an issue with humidity in my home this time of year. I have to have the dehumidifier or AC running constantly to keep the humidity below 70% in my home during the warmer months. Does anyone else have an issue with humidity from their reef tanks?

My tanks are in a pretty small room, I have to run a dehumidifier or I can stand being in the room for more than 10 minutes. If I leave the windows closed in the room I can see the condensation on the glass. Can't be good for the structure if I don't run a dehumidifier.
I never realised before when I had tropical tanks with lids how much water could evaporate when the lid is removed. I guess it's another learning curve of having marine

I might have to look into something like this. Right now I'm emptying the catch 3x a day.

If your home is struggling to stay under 70% RH, you have issues other than your tank. One of the primary functions of your home's AC, other than cooling, is removing excess humidity.

I will add, for the sake of the original post, that yes I do run a dehumidifier. However, my setup is not typical by any means. Also, in the hotter months my window unit keeps the humidity down on it's own during the daylight hours and I only really need to run my dehumidifier at night, when the AC isn't having to actively cool as much.

I don't have a central cooling system (the joys of an old house). By AC I was talking about a window unit that I use.

Depends where you live. In North Idaho humidity is not an issue. In Wisconsin or Portland Oregon, humidity is an issue.
