I have had the female in my tank for several months. I just now added the male to the tank (he is the smaller one but has the larger dorsal fin that looks like a flag). He and the female started fighting. I had dimmed the lights to help ease the shock of being placed in a new tank. I guess the lights were not what I should have been worried about... :squigglemouth:

I recently had a smaller spotted go after a green to the point that the green croaked.

This is not all that unusual, especially if one was a newcomer vs. one already established. Sometimes things settle down, sometimes not. Or it might just be a matter of one not being "attracted" to the other (like in humans). I read an article one time that mentioned female mandys only being "attracted" to males that were much larger than they were. I mention this because it appears your male & female are somewhat similar in size.

My male was somewhat of a jerk to the female in the very beginning.. he's still not always "chivalrous" towards her (according to my wife); but they do mate, so I guess they've at least accepted one another. :xd:
