Hello I have a coral tank right now and I love the look of the mandarin goby. The tank is 6+ months old and I have tons of pods on all of the walls. I also have a brine shrimp hatchery if I need it. I’ll wait a few months before I consider getting one though. Would you recommend one?
Thanks.

I wouldnt recommend putting one on anything under a 40. They eat so many pods your 14gal wont be able to sustain a good population of pods for one. You would have to continuously add pods

Lots of live rock
I would say they like more in the 50+ pounds of live rock. I waited until my tank was around a year and half before I added to be safe. And then I still add pods here and there. I would wait a little longer until tank natures.

If I kept it in the 14, how many pods would I have to dose
They eat all day long, I would say you would have to dose everyday. That also would get expensive.

To give you a small idea of how many pods they eat I have a 65gal tank with about 60lbs of rock. I literally watched my pod population basically be depleted within 2 weeks. I add pods every two weeks now.

For a 14 gallon nano you would probably have to dose pods daily or every other day and phytoplankton for the pods, that gets very expensive. My target mandarin never stops eating unless he's sleeping.

How many pods would I have to dose and which type
Depends on the size of mandarin you get but Tisbe are their favorite followed by Tigs. I add three bottles every two weeks. It would be in your best interest to look up cultivating pods if your dead set on putting one in that small of a tank. You'll need to add a noticeable amount daily.
