Also, is that an AI Prime HD you have? Just FYI, it ended up burning my mangrove leaves over time, so ours are pretty stubby considering they are going on 3+ years old. LOL!

Those mangroves look great! I love that they already have some prop roots. Do you mind sharing where you purchased them? I'm about to start up a shallow reef tank with mangroves.

I love the idea you are using to hold the mangroves up with the clear plastic rods! Where did you get yours? I see them at frag swaps, but not online..? How are you affixing the mangroves to the rods?
Thanks! My lfs gave me these ones, not sure where you can buy them. But I also have heard people using rigid airline tubing as well. They are attached using some landscaper tape (I don’t know what it’s really called-it’s to hold back plants-not actually sticky).

Its the ecotech xr15. Good to know about the leaves, not sure how to address that.

Thanks! I got these from eBay. Mangroves. I looked around quite a bit before I got these. I ended up losing maybe 5 total-not sure how much was my fault. The rest are looking good though.

I wouldn't keep them directly under the lights. My guess is they will get plenty of light off the sides (if you place them off to the sides). Something to try as that is what I am going to do in my new set up.

We got our pods right off the beach in Florida when we were visiting my parents. Since they are pods and not trees, you can take them legally. If you're not near the Gulf Coast, maybe someone you know who lives there/visiting there (or on this site) can get them and ship them to you. A lot cheaper that way, but you will need to grow them from pods.

All my anemones have been transferred into the tank, now if they would stop moving all over, that would be great!

This is an awesome set up! Looking to get a shallow lagoon style tank in the next few months and this tank is great inspiration. The upclose nem clown photos could be the background of my first/Chromecast. I have been reading through the thread and may have skipped past any mention of coral. Have you put any in yet? Plans for upcoming types of coral?

Finally got some rock for the tank. My lfs got 18 boxes of real reef in yesterday and I had the chance to crack a couple boxes open and pick a few pieces out.

Moving anemones hasn’t been fun, but I’ve transferred 6 from old rock/holding containers, and have 3 stubborn ones to go! Love the branch rock-so so on the rest. But I wanted something the nems would easily attach to. Probably shift things around a little-but this is more or less where it’ll be.

Thank you!
The tank was mainly planned as an anemone/mangrove tank, so eventually I’d like to add some rock flower anemones. But it’s hard to stop there! Today I did add a frag of alveopora and setosa. I’ve also thought a nice big stag would look cool, so I’ve considered adding a piece of rrc pink Cadillac, one of my all time favorites. And now thanks to @Reefbuilder, I am scheming if I can fit a yellow tip elegance somewhere in there.

My aquarium was shipped with Central Freight as well. It is the next town over, was expected delivery today. No call yesterday nor today. Did they call you before delivery? I took the day off basically for this today and no word, was kind of a let down. I’ve got stuff I have to do tomorrow :(

I never received a call. I checked their page frequently with the tracking number and finally when it said it was supposed to be delivered, I called and once the rep saw that their page said out for delivery, they took the time to try and find the truck, but ultimately I didn’t get anything from them about timeframe. Luckily I had just gotten home from dropping my daughter off at preschool. It was a bit frustrating. I would call their service line in the morning and try and find out.

Ok thanks. Yeah I’ll call them in a couple hours. Hopefully they will get a move on with it.

Tank is doing great. Haven’t changed much. Bubble tips are settled and haven’t moved in a couple weeks. Would love to add a few things, I’m thinking a nice stag type Acro in the branch rock. Been wanting a rrc pink Cadillac, maybe that’s the place for it.
anyway, one of my favorite views:

(Setup on the left is a vivarium, lit with the XR15 freshwater, the Plan is some dart frogs, but life’s been too busy to pull the trigger on some)

I mist them with ro every day or so. I think I need to get some suction cups or something to add to my acrylic rods. Mangroves are having a hard staying upright. Down to 7 trees, but those that are left are doing well, putting out new leaves.
