My yellow map puffer has become black and white over the last several months. I’ve had puffers for decades so I know they can change colors based on mood but I haven’t seen the yellow coloration in months now. :( ‘Normal’ coloration has become black and white, with moody coloration being a dark olive.

He/she s fed mainly a homemade frozen blend that includes a lot of astaxanthin in the mix (I use Sports Research brand and add 24mg per batch, a batch lasts about a month), as well as another homemade frozen blend that includes mainly Reef Nutrition pellets soaked in selcon (which have 400ppm astaxanthin apparently) along with their arctic pods. He also gets some freeze dried krill. He’s about doubled in size in the last 18 months (from about 8-10cm to about 20-25cm).

Are there any vitamins/foods I could use to improve coloration? Btw I also dose the tank with Red Sea AB+. I am interested to hear opinions/experiences, thanks!

It may be due to the puffer maturing.
A mature map puffer is more often than not mainly black.
