I ordered 3 fish from MC - they sourced them for me as a special order which I really appreciated, so I give them high marks on that
However, they sent me a fish with significant finrot on the left pectoral fin
They gave me a heads up about 4 weeks ago that it wasn’t ready because of some bacterial fin issue - I appreciate the care and making sure I received a healthy fish - and they sent me the leopard wrasses that were ready
However after I followed up Monday they said it was ready and this is what I received. They gave me no additional heads up about the condition - a phone call explaining that this is nbd and that they’re hard to source or something would have gone a long way.
It’s also on the skinny side for having been through 6 weeks of conditioning
I don’t really consider that a “disease free” fish - and it came at a premium. I spent $1k total.
I’m a big fan of Elliot’s content and Patreon subscriber of SR but I wouldn’t do business with marine collectors again.
I really hesitated to even write this review but I would want to know if I were shopping for a quality QT vendor.
(Another photo I color edited a bit so it would be more clear)
Edit: fish continued to breathe rapidly and struggled to swim in the box
As a last resort I released it into the DT where it died
It received a few nips to its tail fin from the CUC or fish bullying it
I thought maybe if it was the to hide in the rock it would recover better
I’ve submitted a claim - we’ll see if they honor it or reject it because of the tail fin damage
