Maroon clownfish pairing

I’ve had a maroon clownfish for about six months, it has since almost doubled it’s size (right now about 2 inches long, probably a bit more). My question is wether she has grown enough to pair it up with a small male.

when you do try it you should get an acclimation box and put the new maroon in there for a few days to see how they interact with each other i tried this with a tomato clown without one and she nearly killed the male

That’s what I plan on doing, I just wondered if my female was big enough to successfully pair.

Going by my experience, yes. Two same sized gold nuggets didn’t work, so I waited and purchased a smaller gold striped maroon and they paired pretty fast. Maroons also pair with anemones much faster as well in my experience, within hours.

I must be the "lucky guy" here - I have a pair of Maroons that are 16 years old and she lays eggs monthly. I also have a pair of Gold Nuggets that have paired but haven't yet laid eggs. They're about 14 mos old. Both pairs LOVE their nems.

Clowns are weird and each individual can be unpredictable, but based on what you have described it would be reasonable to introduce a small male at this time. Good luck! We're cheering for you (and them)!

Thanks, I’m particularly hopeful because she isn’t overly aggressive. Most of the fishes in the tank hang out around the anemones and she never attacks them, and, although before it did, now she never attacks my hands whenever I’m feeding or arranging something.
