Hang in there Marvin...hopefully the tank switch will be easy and the last of your issues. This will at least be planned so hopefully not too bad.
Marvin sorry about the stand! good luck with the swap. hope all goes well
Thanks guys. tentative plan for the stand switch is Fri. trying to work out the logistics so I can prepare as much as I can and will be as fast as possible.

I like dealing with them. They're pretty straight up. Don't buy much livestock there though. Never had good luck with them in that regard. Happy to hear they're stepping up for you! I'm going to talk with them when I get ready for the next build......2+ years from now.

yeah. Tom and the crew seems to do a great job on customer service. this is actually my first dealings with them and they all have been pretty good so far, aside from the many people you talk to. ;) I've spoken with Tom, Dave, David, Luke, Travis, Alexis, Barbi.. seems like it's someone different each time. but at least they know what's going on. :)

so, today is suppose to be the day to switch out the stands. hope everything goes well and I don't stress out my already stressed out fishes. just when they look like they're getting somewhat settled, I'll have to disturb them again. :( :(

parameters were tested Wed (02-20-13) and this is what I came up with API test kit.

Ammonia: 0ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrate: 20-40ppm
pH: 8.2

some of the clowns are still lethargic and not eating so I'm hoping it's just because they are stressed. BTA's seem to be alright besides a few that haven't fully expanded. tonight, I'll get a chance to paint the back of the tank too so that's good. will have a heater and/or fan to speed up the drying. will probably do 2 coats min. wish me luck.

took out the Yellow Tang and Majestic and they had their own holding bin for themselves.

on to the first hiccup. we were planning on leaving the rest of fishes in there but didn't work out.. I had originally planned to put the tank on our futon, but totally forgot that I have a corner overflow/return. this will come into plan in another huge problem later... this kinda work out as we had more room to paint the back glass. we lined up 4 chairs we use in the dining room and sat the tank there to prep for painting. the problem we had with the fishes was the sand got moved around so I got freaked out when I saw the cloudy water and saw the fishes swimming in that stuff. we quickly took them all out and had a few fishes in each bucket.

now, here's the biggest hiccup of the night.. remember that corner overflow. confused:
02-22-13Pic916A_zpsc8eefb75.jpg

much thanks to Poseidon for helping me with this issue. used facetime to show Mike the whole stand and we decided that it's alright to cut through what we need to fit the plumbing. I'm so glad that this stand had extra support around the corners. looking at DIY stands on YouTube, the extra support really helps in supporting the weight of the tank. this stand is pretty solid.

the problem we had at this point was, we didn't have the right tools to cut the stand. looked around the house and this is what I found.

thank goodness, the wifey thought about buying this kit at Ikea while it was on sale. so out of the kit, came this.. a large steak knife, I mean a saw.. hahaha...

here's the scene of the crime before I retired for the night/morning.. took a shower and went straight to bed. started at 8pm and finally in bed at 5am. overall, besides a few hiccups; it turned okay.. so glad that was done. still have a lot to do but now, I'm liking what we came up with. much props again to my bro, JR (Mabisyo) for helping out. much thanks again Poseidon for helping us solve the biggest problem we had. and thanks to all that are following this thread during the toughest times. hope its good news to report from here on.. :)
