What does a mature Superman Monti look like? I can find a ton of small frag pics but nothing showing it grown out. Does it just cover the rock that it’s on like it was painted on there or does it form bumps, ridges or small branches?

I’m looking to add some red and blue (or anything not green or orange) to my tank.

I have a spot about 6” from the top that gets about 240 par. I’d like something that stays somewhat low since there’s not much room to grow upwards but I’m not sure what a mature Superman or similar looks like.

Ok thanks! Looks like they cover the rock like a thick blanket and create their own ridges/valleys by kinda folding over on themselves.

How fast do they grow and do you have to chisel them off the rock if they start taking over?

Is that the Superman Monti? If so, do you know what the par is? Does it change color in higher/lower par?

Tidal gardens website says it goes all red during the summer in their greenhouse. I’m assuming it gets more light then.
That was my previous tank. It was two feet deep directly under a 250 w radium 20K light bulb being driven by an electronic ballast overdriving it at about 270 Watts. I never checked the par.

And I mean it was almost directly under the middle halide.

Superman is blue with red polyps. Most of these on here are reverse or some other form with a red base.

While the rainbow variety have different color leading edges that vary from the established body, the true OG Superman Monti should look like the frags where the body stays blue. However, there are many different types that look a bit different. I would pay a bit more for the OG where you can see a colony photo of a bright blue body instead of dull blue body or one that is brownish. There have been many superman knockoffs over the years.

You can trust Than from Tidal Gardens

Actinic photo and 10,000 k photo you could probably reach out to Than and have him send you a photo of his mother colony.

I’ve been looking at them on Tidal Gardens site. Probably order one from there unless something else comes up.

That one looks pretty legit. In the olden days, the Tyree Superman Monti had better color than the knockoffs and that one looks good.
