Your welcome. I feel the same when it comes to loosing a fish. Probably why I haven't boughten a new one in almost a year. Can't stand the thought of my Maxi Mini's eating another one

In my case, the best cure for post-loss depression (after having a good cry) is to move forward. I've started cleaning and storing the rock and sand from the defunct 125g so that I can get the 125 out of the way and recomission my retired 50g glass. The reef will be moved to that when the tank's ready, and the 20g will be turned into a fuge (which reminds me - I need to buy a HOB overflow and a return pump). The proportionately massive increase in water volume should help me in keeping my corals healthy; it's far too easy for parameters to swing in the 20. I can't keep up with it.

The 50g will remain in use until I can save up enough for a new 125g.

You're probably wondering by now why I'm cleaning the rock. The water it's been sitting in is loaded with nitrate and phosphate (1ppm phosphate and like 80 nitrate AFTER a nearly complete water change!), there's gray silt stuck to it, and everything's dead with the exception of the occasional aiptasia (them pain-in-the-butts are hardy!!) which I obviously don't want. I'm soaking and then rinsing the rock in fresh water, and then letting it dry out.

I miss my little basslet. Mom says she'll get me a new one soon (he was a birthday present to begin with) but obviously it won't be the little guy I felt like a mommy to.

My nitrates in this tank just tested out 0. W00t!

I'm still having some phosphate issues but hey, one step at a time! I imagine I'll be able to work that issue out when I work the fuge into the 50. Macroalgae, here I come!

I appear to have a tube worm. Dunno exactly what kind but it pokes a small 'feathery' front end out. Cool! I've discovered a "new" hitchhiker!

My goniopora doesn't want to open...I have no idea why...I hope it's not on its way out. The leptastrea, mushroom, and acan are fine and dandy. The monti has a small spot that looks healthy (killed the rest of it with a peroxide dip), so it might come back.

I gave the goni a VERY weak peroxide dip (which helped last time it refused to open, too) and it started to come out a little, and then tonight I turned off the powerheads and while target-feeding the acan (which has a great appetite, btw) I very gently attempted to target-feed it some mysis juice. It seemed to like that.

I have to wonder if it has a mild bacterial infection. Maybe I'll start giving it a low-concentration peroxide dip once a week for a while and see if it doesn't perk up. I'd like to use a proper coral dip but I don't currently have any. Maybe I can get some next month.

The goni is open today. I think my theory is probably correct so I'll put it on a dip schedule for a little while.

It's so funny - one of my hermits changed shells, but he picked a shell that's too big for him so he's lugging it around like a minivan trying to pull a motorhome XD looks like I'll be target-feeding him for a while.

SPIKE'S EATING NLS PELLETS!!!!! He also took a couple of small mysis shrimp off a coral XD I think he has problem seeing the shrimp on the sand because they're almost the same color.

The best thing is that New Life Spectrum pellets are a terrific food. They should keep my little guy in great health. I'll still do my best to maintain a pod population but to know he's getting plenty of nutrition even when the pods run low...it's an incredible feeling, especially seeing as how he's my favorite fish <3

Well, anthias are my favorite fish - love the pictilis in particular - but I can't keep those in a nano. I will check out the channel, though.
For now, I'm at least moving up to my 50g. I'm tired of it being so touchy parameter-wise. Things change too fast in this water volume for me to keep up with.

I'll update pics when things are visibly different, lol. Aside from the monti there really isn't much to see between my last pics and now. And this phone's camera stinks.

Aiptasia-X isn't working, probably because my hands shake and make the thing retract.

Seems my LFS can order berghia nudibranchs. Hopefully I'll be able to afford some of those. Gotta call back tomorrow.

Oh, no.....

I thought the acan had a rock on it, so I tried to turkey-baste it out, but it wouldn't move, so I tried to push it out with the end of the baster, but then realized it was probably the polyp's gut. x.x Praying I haven't seriously injured it.

Well, the acan's still alive and doesn't appear to be stressing...here's hoping it's fine.
