Maxima clam duration without light possible?

I had a power surge that may have knocked out 2 ballasts luckily 1 was not plugged in. The timer is surge protected and the power stip I thought was. I’m not sure if the clam or coral will make it in the week it will take to send this fixture back and repaired. I was thinking about getting a led of some kind then perhaps returning it when I get my t5 back. LED is the only thing I can find within a 3 hour drive and I don’t know what to do. I’m hoping I can just put new bulbs in and it will work but I don’t think I’m that lucky.

I'd try the new bulbs just to see. If not, I'd be weary of an entire week with no light for a tridacna. While it might survive, IMO, I would think some light would be better than no light.

I’m just not a fan of led and it is a big change I have it footed on a shell so I can move it to the top. Is led going to be ok? My mother suggested to just open the bay window blinds for sunlight and clean up all the algae when lights get back, I witnesther do this when I was younger and it worked but she didn’t have a clam.I’m not so sure that would be enough either.

I would rather use a LED. It's only temporary. What kind of LED is it?

I have not purchased it yet so whichever you all think will be best. I am getting ideas before I go the wrong route or buy the wrong thing

Looks like my options will be marineland or aqueon it’s not showing spectrum output what should I look for on that

I really want to that sounds like a great idea however given my horrible geographic location I’m very limited apart from shipping and I only have 2 super daylights running at the moment so feel I need to supplement ASAP and get this thing in the mail.I may have some shipped though it’s always good to have fall back equipment on hand.

HD supply? It will be longer than a couple day though looking at about 9 total. 4 there 1 to repair and 4 back.

Home Depot. Those spot leds are pretty strong and inexpensive. They are white, but the cool white have some strong blue peaks and ime clams respond well to whiter lights. That would be my low cost option for a clam temporary light. Each spot is around 20w so a pair is 40w of power which is pretty spunky

A used daylight HPS, MV or MH bulb used for Horticulture would be better than a LED spot from hardware store. Most CraigsLists have these used from a Hydroponics operation for pretty cheap. They look really yellow, but the light is very good. Even a used bulb would have better spectrum than a new cut-spectrum LED spotlight.

The Craigslist you will find dirt cheap fixtures there mostly leds but don’t stress it the brand or the type or age go for the preci what ever is cheaper since it’s only going to be temporary just a week, HD can work too and you can return it get your money back I your clam will suffer more from no lights than other source of light, I have a Maxima clam for almost 2 years under leds without a problem it’s on my sandbed too

Fwiw we have a local member with a couple clams under DIY blue/white only LEDs (back when that was popular) for 7 years now. Derasa and Maxima, so used bulb/fixture/spot will be fine for a week just get one intense enough.

Thank you know I’m not as worried I have only had it for 6 months and it has about 1/4” of new growth so I’d hate to lose it over this. I guess all my reading was just based on the long term needs
