Great... I will appreciate it. I was checking the dimensions and they don't have that much difference....

Gyre XF-230 Pump Specifications (Dimensions (LxWxH): 10" x 2.95" x 1.57)

Gyre XF-250 Pump Specifications (Dimensions (LxWxH): 11.8" x 2.9" x 2.4")

I selected the XF250 because my tank is 3/4 thick acrylic. I am currently running it at 60% Power. Flow wise I would of been OK with the XF230 except is only handles 1/2" thickness.

A note about the magnet on the XF250 It may be rated at 3/4" but it is not very strong at that level

Good to know.... But you mean that if you go higher in power it will fall down or vibrate???

No I had it at 100 Percent for a brief time while programming and besides the fish sticking to the opposite wall of the tank and the substrate flying everywhere it stayed in place.

Understood. Thanks...

I have 2 - xf130s running in the 30" cube. If I angle the flow up to agitate the water surface and go to 100% it will push water out of the tank. I have friends with the XF150 model, one on a 8' tank, the 150 with pulse a small wave across the 8' tank. its not enough for a reef by itself but it certainly works well for FOWLR

I'll be moving my mp10wqd over into my reefer 250 and I looked at the gyre 130, but have been told I may be better off with the 150. What are your thoughts on that? Tank is 3' from left to right.

I run a 150 in my 4' 90 gal and love it. Roughly at 60-70% pulse on 2 sec off 2 sec. I will add it doesn't actually cut flow off when ramps down, it goes to an equivalent of lowest setting for that time. That's it on top right of tank above the red monti. Sleek and clean look in my opinion.
I may snag another and the controller when it's available and funds line up just for controllability and more of a variable flow.

I am adding a 150 to my 130 in a 135. The 130 does not make it all the way across the tank but moves a ton of water.

I'm wondering about the one way flow . Ok I keep posting late. So Jskter, You have one at each end . that's what I'd want to do.

I thought the price would be high. By the time I buy the 4 way korallia controller and 4 decent sized controllable Power H's it's considerably more $$ than 2 250's . with a much smaller foot print. I think I'll get one to see how it works and add another if I want. Looks like my korallia controller and pumps will go on the same shelf with my MH's for storage !

So . Blitzie, How long are the cables? If I mount a controller close to one end it needs to reach the other side of the tank . That's 6 ft and some.

Put in the @ before and who ever will get back to you;)

I also put a mp40 down about 2/3 the way down. So when the water hits the middle and rolls down, the mp40 catches the flow and pushes it against the grass and distrubitutes the water along the bottom.

A 130 works great in a 36" wide tank, I only run mine at about 40% or else it creates a sandstorm at the other end. I run it in pulsed mode, forward only.

I have a 150 in my 4ft 120g tank. Usually have it at 40 or 50% and that's plenty. Had thought I might add a 130 when the new controller came out but now they say pumps must be the same to use the advanced controller. I'll add another what is now a 250 and controller after a while. I had one of the original Gyres and went through a few upgrades and warranty issues. I'll let someone else work the bugs out this time around. I do love the pumps.

Sounds like the 130 is the pump for me and the reefer 250. I do have a mp10wqd that will be moved to this tank also.

The 250 pump/controller package is available now. Pump alone is also available now. Can't get just the controller yet.
