I have now run both. MPs are better.
have you run the latest version of the gyres or an older version? I think the last 2 version are the best and blow away the MPs... i have the 60 and 40 version of MPS and the xf250 of the gyre

I have 2 XF 250s, 2 XF 350s, 2 MP 60s, 2 MP 40s, 2 Mp 10s.
The XF350s were a bit of a disappointment to me and aren't in a tank anymore. I still run the XF250s in my 75.
They seem to need about 1/4th the cleaning. With the XF350s the flow falls off as they get dirty and I started having to clean them every 2 weeks or my gorgonians brown up. I thought that was ridiculous and finally replaced them.
So the 240 is running only MPs now.
