Maxspect Razor Automatic time period

Greetings from Atlanta. I've just recently setup a 93g cube and I'm running a maxspect razor. The tank will be LPS dominate with a few SPS pieces. The maxspect has been on the market now for a while and I'm curious for those that have been using this light fixture a while, what has been the most ideal automatic program setting that you've noticed your best results? Any information or experience you could share with this light fixture would be greatly appreciated!

i have mine turn on at 10am 1% white 5% blue noon 15%w 30%b 2pm 60%w 100%B 6pm 30%w 90%b 11pm off, that should be what mine is or close to it. i don't run a lot of white

Marine biologists suggest that the zooxanthellae in the corals we keep only do photosynthesis for 4-6 hours a day. As long as you get that time frame with enough light, a PAR of 150-200, your corals should do well.

Wouldn't corals get more light than that naturally from the sun?

Thanks for responding. I noticed both of the above auto-time periods are more blue. However, I thought it was the white light that aids the coral in growth??? However, I do prefer a more blue look in the evening and seeing everything pop.

What fixture are both of you using and over what dimensions of a tank? Are your corals perdominatly LPS, SPS or mixed reef?

27" 16k version over an ADA 90p, which is around 36x18x18 and it's LPS dominated. SPS has been hit or miss: some better, some the same, and some worse compared to my reef (same water) lit with halides/vhos (radium/superactinics). LPS look better, almost across the board, under the Razor (the blues bring out the "pop" we all like to see).

My tank is LPS dominate with a VERY few select SPS pieces. I noticed when I was running preset #2 (before automatic program), it was too much light at 100% because algae was starting to bloom. However, I was noticing more growth. That's why I'm curious what everyone's growth rate on their LPS has been with various lighting schedules. Hopefully someone will chime in regarding growth and white lights.

I have softies, and LPS. i dont do 100% white i dont want to burn my corals, id have a sunburnt krakatoa haha. i like the blue look as well

Impossible to definitively comment on growth rates even after playing with the different settings for the last 10-months or so. I'm confident in saying that chalice growth has been better under the current settings and is hands-down better compared to the growth/color I see (for chalices specifically) under Radium/VHOs. I think it's an awesome fixture for an LPS/zoa tank, which is exactly what I wanted for the ADA 90P it's over. That said, I personally wouldn't put it over an SPS dominated tank. I think the best bet on LPS is a blue T5 set up or setting your LEDs to favor blues. On top of everything about burning corals/growing algae, the 100% White + 100% Blue setting doesn't look good, IMO.

Since you said you wanted to keep a few sps, here are a few corals that I've had really good luck with under the Maxspect: Tyree Setosa (looks the same under halides & LEDs), Yellow Caroliniana (same under both), Green Birdnest (an insane difference in color/growth compared to my halides), Ponope BN, and Miagi Tort. I've tested several SPS under the LEDs, lost some or just moved them back under halides after awhile. We've also tried to acclimate new SPS to the LEDs first and now are trying to bring them back under the halides because the acclimation didn't go well. Part of the fun has been testing things out under different lighting. That's my anecdotal evidence so hope it helps.

I really do appreciate the feedback and information. I'm leaning towards a second maxspect unit over my 93g cube. I think this will help with SPS growth as I can dedicate one fixture to those corals (being that they're high on the rock and towards the back of the tank) and then utilize my current maxspect towards the from for the LPS.
