Hi all!!
Been a reader here at R2R for a long time, and finally decided to start my own build!
A little info about ourselves, we are a couple from A Coruña (Spain) and we started as most people do with a FW tank, but at the moment we already knew we wanted a reef tank. We had the freshwater tank for about 2-2.5 years, it was a 120L (32G) and finally went to the saltwater side that was 8 months ago!
Here a picture of the FW tank
The tank is located at the same spot as the old one, its a room divider from the dinning side and the tv/chill side with 3 side view.
At first, the new tank was supposed to be on the same stand as the fw one, but once we drilled for the return and overflow pipes, we discovered that it wasn't wood, but some kind of board filled with cardboard. At that point we decided to do things right and get a new stand.
It's made of a metal structure and coat painted in white and withe wood in the outside.
Here the structure being made
So after that little story, lets get with the important things!!
The tank is around 440L (116G)
Measurements are 160x50x55cm (+/- 5.24'x1.64'x1.80')
Some pic's the day that arrived at the LFS
As you can see in the upper side there are 2 per side slide doors, that is because at home we have this two "little" guys, and we wanted to be sure they didn't end up in a saltwater bath!
And here come's the star of the thread!!
Some pics of the build
Sump in place, fits perfect in the spot, as you can see its a simple sump, first chamber for overflow drain, second chamber for skimmer and finally return pump chamber. The right side could be ATO reservoir, fuge, etc. We are gonna use it as a fuge with some chaeto.
Skimmer, heaters, return pump and electric box in provisional placement
All equipment and pipe work in place
Fuge light on
Gonna upload some recent pictures as there has been some changes like a white methacrylate board in the fuge wall to avoid light getting into the rest of the sump plus a fuge pump and fuge pvc work.
As equipment goes, at the moment we have:
- Pacific Sun Diuna T5 8x80W
- Vortech MP40QD (not seen at the pictures cause we had a gyre 130 but was too loud, and changed it for the vortech)
- Tunze 6055
- 2x200W heaters
- Deltec sc1660
- Rock WP2000 pump
- Fuge pump (don't really know it's name...)
- Mars Hydro 300
- Vortech BatteryBackup
Hope to enjoy with you all!
