Hello R2R family, I'm finally back into the hobby again and starting my newest build! For those who don't me, I was the founder/owner of Boom Corals, which is now owned by my good friend Quinn. I have sorely missed this hobby, and missed my lovely acropora. This build will be the first of two! This time around I'm starting with a Proclear 140 system (bought it in 2019 right before they changed their sizes). It will be sitting right on the edge of my game room, so it will get plenty of attention. :) The main tank is a 5' long 100 gallon tank, and has a 40 gallon sump underneath. The frame is a combo of wood and aluminum and it has very nice glass doors of some kind. As I mentioned this is build #1 - build #2 will be later maybe in a year or so, and for that one I'm planning to go all out with a Red Sea Reefer S 850.

My aquacave order arrived today with the following:

* Reefbreeders Photon 50 V2 Pro
* Milwaukee digital refractometer
* API and Salifert test kits
* 250, 150, and 200w eheim jager heaters
* Sicce Ultra Zero Utility pump
* Simplicity DC 1000 return pump
* Simplicity 120 DC protein skimmer
* Aquatech 8800 booster kit
* brand new filters and membranes for my RODI (more on that in a minute)

The only thing that hasn't shipped yet are the 4x Sicce Xstream 1720gph wave pumps for flow.

The RODI system is actually the same one from when I had the coral business and was still in the hobby. So I ordered all new filters, resin, and membranes, as well as a new booster pump and pressure gauge. I need to replace all of those, and redo all of the lines so it will be just like new.

The Photon works great! I was able to connect it to my wifi easily, and control is via the app on my phone. So far so good. Next updates once I get the plumbing done to the sump, and I get a few more supplies.

Following. You piqued my interest with your choice of light.

I plan on using the 48” version on my tank

Got some plumbing done and got the RODI up and running. However I'm only getting 20 PSI before the first membrane, even with the aquatec 8800 booster. After some digging it seems as though I either misplaced or got rid of the flow restrictor on the waste line, so I ordered a new one. Hopefully that will fix it!

Hm. I wonder if a flow restricted would help my situation. I’m hitting 39psi at best

I'm on well water, but even so it should be a minimum 40psi as that's the bottom of my pressure tank. Without the booster pump I'm only getting 15psi, and 20psi with. I have the 150gpd water saver system on there, and with everything running I'm getting an intermittent trickle from the clean water, but the waste water is dumping a ton of water. My research led me to needing the flow restrictor on the waste water to help with this.

If you have questions on light, just ask. I have used every light under the sun! Ecotech, kessil, AI, MH, T5, chinese LEDs, you name it!

Best response so far. :D
Nice build coming up. Since you have a vast experience on the lights. can you please guide me on choosing the lights for my new 60x24x24 inches mixed reef set up?
Note that i have to import more or less any brand except for the AI and the radions.
Also i am looking at panel lights to reduce the number wires and the power bricks and ofcourse for better overall coverage.
Following are my options not necessarily in the same order
1. Philips Coral Care x 2
2. Ati hybrid 48" 6 bulb
3. Photons 50' V2
4. Illumagic 48"
Hope to get some valuable inputs from your experiences
Thanks

yeah I have the same system. And similar results with regards to waste water vs clean.

thanks my friend, I hadn’t even thought of a flow restricter

Personally I'd go with the Photon 50 V2 out of those you listed.
