Media block making a mess! Removal?

I have this microbacter media block from cycling the tank but it is just making a mess and so britle now I can't stand the mess!

Anyone have any input on just removing it and all its debris all together!

I have three and no issues. Assure it is not in the path of high water movement.
I would suggest placing your block within a nylon pouch so it is contained.

Not only can you remove that

but in the fifty pages sand rinse thread we could remove that, your whole sandbed at the same time, half your rock, your sump and any bio balls in it, input three new fish and your tank still would not lack filtration surface area, we are that redundantly overdone in each tank. Yank it

Thats a good idea about the pouch!

its right in the incoming flow so its probably the highest flow in the sump..

You always quick to jump in on the tank cleaning, its a bare bottom with allot of live rock, but the main reason I've been holding onto it is in case of a quick emergency tank seeding but its so messy it might not be worth hording it for " just in case".

You say yank it! I may just do that..thanks brandon
