Just wondering how this works, or for that matter the side effects on corals.

I haven't tried those products, but I've medicated food with great success. For Ich, I treated food with API general cure. If it a frozen food I just put a little API on the food with some garlic. Let it soak and absorb the medicine for 20 minutes. Do that for 10 days.

I've also treated food with erythromycin for fin rot and as a preventative measure when I've gotten injured or sick fish from local reefers or LFS. Works the same way.

Haven't seen any negative effect on corals, inverts, or the tank in general. Probably done it 15 times in the past 8-9 years.

I didn't use that product but I was at MACNA couple days ago and I talked to Dr G's rep about couple of my fish that has ich. The blue tang has ich and he eats well. the Achilies tang has ich but he stopped eating. The rep was very nice and he gave us a bottle so hopefully we can save the fish. In 2 days 50% of the ich on the blue tang is gone. but my Achilies tang will not eat. I am hoping he will eat. I did see the difference in the blue tang so I know it works. here is a link of the bottle that he gave us. hope it will do the trick.

I was just wondering for corals cause all medicated food has some ingredients in them that can harm corals.
Not that I have ICH as I QT all fish for 10 weeks min.
In my Ich directory it says Hypo or Copper treadment, so I was wondering what this medfood does??

Correct 10 weeks, IMO if you don't have the patience in this hobby you just don't be word to be in this hobby.
I have been in it for 40+ years and have seen and still ppl introduce their livestock straight in the tank.
Not saying that every fish on the market is sick but to many times a $30 fish would wipe out a $3k stocked tank.
Diseases won't have to show in weeks but sometimes after 3/4 weeks making a show.
For this thread I was just wondering what kind of medicine is in the medicated food and if it has any effect on corals short or long term.
Just an open discussion as most if not all medicine in a reef tank can be not good if not deadly to corals.

Dr. G's Anti-parasitic food has chloroquine phosphate as the active ingredient, per a conversation I had with them at MACNA. I would be curious if anyone has used this successfully, as CP targets the swimming (theront) stage of ich when dosed into the aquarium. That assumes the fish will eat the treated food as well, as CP is supposedly not very palatable. You definitely wouldn't want any of the food to fall on any corals, as CP is a very potent algecide.
