Well technically the S ports are gone as well, which I have never used anyways, but that limits the user to the 5.1 powerbar. For now at least. The 5.1 powerbar is expensive, because it's expensive to make. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to make a more affordable powerbar, with more or less outlets at some point. I personally like the high quality 5.1 as I don't really want to worry about it.

Bottom line is the 4e gives customers more options. In my opinion always a good thing! Thanks for the announcement Vinny and GHL!

What exactly are the s ports for

I know they were used for the old silver 4 outlet and 2 outlet powerbars. They can be used for some other stuff, but I honestly don't know what. @Ditto do you use these ports?
The 2's you're thinking of are probably the expansion sockets, made for high current draw items such as chillers or MH ballasts, commercial heaters etc. They have 2 power wires, a grounded and a 2 prong. 2 prong is signal only, connects to your programmed outlet. 3 prong grounded goes to supply/wall.

So is there really anything you need the s port for that's in your opinion needed or helpful
I haven't used an S port in years... highly doubt I ever will again. Well now that you mention it, I may just due to some legacy equipment a friend recently dropped at my doorstep :p

@WWIII I believe The S port is the legacy 12v port on the P4, I believe also they are switch relay ports.

I sent support an email to confirm :)

Bottom line, you won't need the s ports to run the ion director. haha! GHL also won't make us buy a new profilux either. ;)
