Megabite's 180 Reef - Round 2

That I need more shelving and a library ladder to stuff more stuff in there. That way, I can live in there when my wife kicks me out for not getting rid of stuff that I’ve had in boxes for the last three moves across the US over the last 15 years.
Little AC, a small bar, fold-out sofa and you'll be all set. (This assumes the tank will be moved.)

As I’m looking into retirement in a few years, I’ve actually considered “investing” into turning part of this building into a coral business. Just need to make an insulated room within it with AC, plumbing, etc. and put maybe 6 - 8 large shallow systems in there. The investment wouldn’t be too big for me, but haven’t really looked into coral sourcing, ROI, or projected income.

I would have a blast doing this in retirement as I don’t sit still much. Just don’t know how difficult it would be to be successful and actually have a good income from it.

OG Corals, Megabite Corals, Orly’s Corals?

I love this idea but, then again, you should have already known that I would.

Sourcing shouldn't be that big of a dilemma. ROI should be simple enough to calculate as would projected income. Of course, I would use conservative models.

You're onto some good names. I kind of like Double O Corals too.

Oh...sorry! Saw this the other day at work and forgot to measure the glass when I got home! Currently laying on my kids bedroom floor in the basement and will measure as soon as I hike my behind back upstairs 🤣

Glass is 7.5 mm!

Haha. DoubleOO is my gaming name. Yes, I still game.

I’m going to go ahead and put a business plan together and see how it looks. Being conservative in the plan is key to any business plan. Especially when you’re using your own money.

Thanks for your thoughts, Chris.

If you send the file, I can have my mother-in-law print it for me!
Attached is the STL file. I made it for 8mm glass to give you a little wiggle room. 1/2 mm more should work well to slide across the glass.

Here's a comparison chart after about a week and half of switching ALK dosing from Soda Ash to Sodium Hydroxide to help raise PH. The other benefits I've noticed are ALK consumption has gone up along with ORP. All livestock is doing well and no issues with the change.

I'm very happy with the switch and results in my tank.

My tank is 6 months old today! 🎆

It's been 6 months today since I first put water and rock in this tank. I've been blessed with things going very well and in large part thanks to the R2R community and all the info and support on here. I don't think I'd be this far along in a relatively short time without you!

Special thanks goes to @Miami Reef (RIP) as I've followed a lot of what he was doing in my tank. Another special thanks goes to those that have frequented, offered support, and always comment on this build starting with @That Crusso Kid, @skey44, @Red_Beard, @kingranch2003, @08TRDOFFROAD, and many others that have followed.

On to a few timeline pics. Thanks all for the support. This hobby wouldn't be as fulfilling without you!

Congratulations on 6 months!

I'm not sad or jealous that I wasn't mentioned.
